Well, tomorrow I head back to Lawton after a great but quick few days in New England. As always, it was a busy vacation visiting with family & friends and this time with my girlfriend alongside. We spent a great day in Boston last Thursday and then spent the weekend exploring northern New Hampshire and Vermont. It amazes me how different yet similar different parts of this country can be.

One more nice day!
Rinse and repeat weather to start our weekend then an Arctic intrusion has it's eyes set on Texoma Sunday into Monday.
Just like today, we're forecasting a big spread of temperatures across Texoma tomorrow. A weak cool front is "washing out" (wouldn't it be nice if that meant rain?) right over us so expect slightly cooler temperatures north around Chickasha to Elk City, 70s in Duncan, Lawton, Altus, Frederick, Walters, and Waurika and upper 70s to low 80s across north Texas.![]() | ||||
Saturday's High Temperatures |
I'll be enjoying a relaxing Friday night after work away from the computer and tv for the most part so have a good one! Expect another update sometime tomorrow.

Light Wintry Mix Possible Sunday...
Although our Friday will feature sunshine and mild temperatures in the 70s, Old Man Winter will come back strong towards the second half of the weekend.
Here are some of the ingredients:
![]() |
NAM forecast 500 mb vorticity valid 1PM Sunday (left) & NAM forecast precip. type (right).*Timing: Light wintry mix of freezing rain, drizzle, & sleet develops in the morning, ending by mid to late afternoon. Low impacts expected but still could be some icy spots on elevated surfaces. Why are we thinking freezing rain and sleet as opposed to snow? The details lie in our forecast sounding shown below. This is a forecast showing us what the temperatures are as we get higher up in the sky. The space in the blue box shows very shallow but below freezing air settling in close to the ground BUT as you get higher in the sky, the air warms up considerably. This means that as rain drops form high up in the sky, they will melt in the warm layer but then either freeze on contact (freezing rain/drizzle) or refreeze into sleet pellets. Thanks for reading and following along!
